I squeaked out a little time this weekend while working my bees to do some work on my Jeep. As usual I’m a little behind where I wanted to be in the project but hopefully I can pick up the pace as we move into summer. I still have not brought it to the paint man as I wanted to seal the underside of the Jeep, then get some primer on it and then a finish coat of paint on it. I was able to access some very serious industrial two part sealer and two part primer to apply to the underside of the Jeep. It was not the easiest products to use, but it came out pretty decent and should last for the duration of my life. The finish coat will be a grey color that matches what came from the factory on the underside of the Jeep. The next four pictures are the before pics after I cleaned the underside. It is in great shape for being 55 years old.

The next pics are after the sealer was applied and primer while it was being brushed on. Like I said it was not easy to apply as there was a time limit before it got too thick and hot.

I was also able to buy some 11 inch self adjusting brakes on Craig’s list for the front and am working on getting a set for the back. The little 9 inch drum brakes are a pain in the ass as you have to manually adjust the shoes every so often and plus they don’t have the best stopping power. The 11 inch brakes bolt right up with no alterations. After I’m done with the underside I’ll call my paint guy and see if he’s ready to take it. From here I will move on to the frame and drive train. I brought my tranny to a transmission guy last week for him to check it out and change all the seals and gaskets. I also want him to see why it is hard to shift into second sometimes. I’ll also put a new clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing in while I have it torn apart. It is much easier when the body is off.
