I'd like to buy an AR-10 so I can shoot 7.64x39mm and 6.5 Creedmoor. Besides barrel, bolt and magazines, what other parts do I need to shoot 5.56mm in the AR-10?

You cannot get an AR-10 to run 5.56/.223. First off the AR-10 Bolt carrier is bigger than the 223/556 bolt. 2nd a 223/556 mag is to small to lock into a AR-10 mag well.
AR-10 is for .308/7.62x51 NATO and 6.5 Creedmore

AR-15 can run 223/556, 25-45 Sharps, 300 Blackout, 7.62x39, 6.5 Grendel, 450 bushmaster, 458SOCOM as long as you have the correct barrel, bolt and mags

Closest you're going to get to a single set-up is a Colt LE901. You can swap the 7.62/.308 upper for a standard 5.56/.223 upper and use their magwell block to shoot the smaller round.

But yes, you're better served just get two platforms (moar guns is mo bettah anyway :D)

Thanks for info! But I googled the LE901 and its MSRP is $2600. For that price, I'd rather get an AR-10 and an AR-15.

Good luck on your endeavor. AR 10 is the Eugene Stoner 7.62. Choose a caliber and then you get to pick and choose parts for a build or buy a complete rifle. The nomenclature gets confusing but the rifles are similar.

And you could very easily get both for that money! But yeah, the 10 and 15 formats are different. You can run 223/5.56, 7.62x39, .300 AAC(Blackout) and many more caliber uppers on a 15 lower and the AR10/LR08 Will house a number of bigger calibers (7.62x51/.308, 6.5 creedmore etc.) just do your homework, check compatibility and take care when taking them out to shoot if you run multiple calibers off the same lower.
