I’ve seen that one before. He was attempting to scare off a sow with cubs by discharging a round near the bears. But that’s the stuff burned into my brain as I consider my defensive weapon for Bear Country.

I had an old FBI agent acquaintance that carried a 10mm 1911. He was a great shot. Not like the current bunch of lawyer weenies.

Most ammo I find has 3x the energy in 44mag compared to 10mm. I don’t know maybe it’s enough. A well placed 9mm is better than a 500 that misses but duress is a factor. I’ve been wrong before and I’m sure it will happen again.

If I were close enough to poke a grizzly or brown with a stick I would want the biggest thing made, but that's not going to happen. I honestly have a bit of trouble handling my 44mag after the first shot, and would prefer my Delta Gold Cup 10mm, I can handle it well, and I have a couple of extra shots. What I would really prefer is my little Marlin Guide Gun with hard cast 45 70 bullets, It would not be slung over my shoulder in that country either but carried ready.
