    I don't have a 10mm. Think my .460 Rowland would be enough? ;)

Of course a 44 mag has more energy than a 10mm but what 44 round has more than 2,000 ft-lbs energy (your quote of 3X the energy of a 10mm).

The 10mm also carries 15 rounds with a quick 15 round reload?

15 Rounds out of a 1911 platform, the subject of this thread, would be impressive. (No, a double stack is NOT a 1911)

For many years, the World Record Grizzly Bear was taken by an Indian Woman named Bella Twin in 1953.
She used a single shot .22 rifle.

Y'all need to man up. If a woman can do it, . . .

The subject of this thread was about 1911's, but it ventured to more reliable platforms.

The stones on that gal. Maybe she’s like Moo-shell and could kill things with her eyes.

Shoot,You bear hunters need bigger weapons.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wj7Z5oMWuIU

    10mm/45 my azz....lol

I’ve seen that one before. He was attempting to scare off a sow with cubs by discharging a round near the bears. But that’s the stuff burned into my brain as I consider my defensive weapon for Bear Country.

SWAT around here packs 1911s. And me. And a few of the older detectives with the parish next door as well. Always fun to see the look on people’s face.

Them: Why do YOU need a gun?
    Me: Uhh, zombies, bruh...

I was trying to figure Out which dept he was talking about. We have several guys carrying 1911’s. Our swat guys were going to get all limbers but I guess they had a change of heart

I had an old FBI agent acquaintance that carried a 10mm 1911. He was a great shot. Not like the current bunch of lawyer weenies.

I’m not sure I can get behind the 10mm. I’m not one to quote conventional wisdom but 44mag with hard cast 300+ grain bullets has been the minimum for years when it comes to grizzly. Most ammo I find has 3x the energy in 44mag compared to 10mm. I don’t know maybe it’s enough. A well placed 9mm is better than a 500 that misses but duress is a factor. I’ve been wrong before and I’m sure it will happen again.

If I were close enough to poke a grizzly or brown with a stick I would want the biggest thing made, but that's not going to happen. I honestly have a bit of trouble handling my 44mag after the first shot, and would prefer my Delta Gold Cup 10mm, I can handle it well, and I have a couple of extra shots. What I would really prefer is my little Marlin Guide Gun with hard cast 45 70 bullets, It would not be slung over my shoulder in that country either but carried ready.

I’m pretty sure that I’ve seen plane clothes detectives? carrying 1911s in Elgin (suburb of Austin, TX)

I thought classy instead of intimidating
