So I put a lil something together not long back for the simple reason of testing and having a data point to either prove or disprove something.

I had a 16 inch grendel I built myself useing a mash up of parts and a AA 16 inch barrel and bolt.

What I decided to do was this.

I got my hands on a set of LWRC six8 recivers and some 10 and 30 round six8 pmags. Pulled the needed parts from my home build and did a plug and play grendel on the six8 parts.

First the recivers. They are super well built and have nice tight fit between upper and lower and the barrel channel allowed a nice firm slip fit as well.

The controls at fist I hated them they caused a ton of drag and slowed the action badly. But after a good bit of working them they have come around and got nice and smooth.

The recivers have some kind of coating on them I have not seen before because it took close too 400 cycles by hand to get the recivers good and broke in.

    The mags.

Straight out the pack both the 10 and 30 round mags needed to be filled to capacity and inserted and removed from the lower a good 50 times or more too get them to wear in and too allow the springs to take fourm.

Sidenote on the springs. These mag springs are without a doubt the most stiffest mag springs I have ever dealt with.

The 10 round mag as a round limiter built into the spring retaining plate. So after a lil trim work the 10 round six8 pmag now holds and feed 10 rounds of grendel. I use these for hunting and range work.

It's possible when windowing a mag to get up to 2.360 coal length for handloads. Now my chamber doesn't allow that long of a load with most bullets but some of the heavier and longer bullets I can. Windowing the mag allows me to run 5 rounds from the mag at this length. And it still works as a normal 10 round mag with factory ammo and handloads set at 2.300 or less coal length.

The 30 round six8 pmags will hold 28 rounds of grendel. I use these for plinking/self/home defense mags loaded with grendel wolf fmj ammo. I had to laod the mags down to full capacity and let them break in over the course of a bout a week are so. But once broke in they run fine.

Now I say they run fine but what happened is the last 2 round in the mag angle down just enough that the bullet tip will catch the front lip edge of the mag and carved what I'm calling false feed ramps in the mag polymer.

Once they did that they started running super smooth.

I can lock a full mag in on closed bolt just fine now.

I have just over 1000 rounds of fire through r of these mags now and I'm more then happy how it turned out.

Still looking for someone with a 3d printer to work with and make a custom follower to fit these mags and see if it can get the round stack back right for the first 2 round to be loaded so they don't lightly hit the mags front lip edge.

But if not I'm happy with them as they are now.

All in all I'm super happy how the project turned out and even more surprised at how much I like the polymer mags. And from this point on will build all my ar grendels on these sized reciver sets and use the polymer mags.

Next build will be a sbr 12 inch grendel built on the up coming new frontier armory six8 sized reciver sets. This will be next summer some time.

I will get pics up soon I hope. They are on my phone and I don't have a computer. So not sure how too get them from the phone to here.

Not sure if talking about other forums is allowed but you can Google 6.5 grendel vie six8 reciver and it will pull up my full write up o did on anouther online fourm as well as see the pics if I can get them posted here.

If anybody has any questions feel free to ask. I have nothing to hide about this project and more then willing to discuss it and tweaks that could make it work better with the six8 pmags.
