Anyone know where to find one locally in BR area? Anyone have a spare? It fell out while taking it apart and I can’t find the dang thing.

It is a roll pin, any bolt & nut place should have some, even Home depot/Lowes

I don’t know a lot about pins or revolvers. The part looks solid on the web, would that still be a roll pin? Does it have to be a certain “strength”? It wouldn’t seem to be under pressure at all

If you get a chance to go by the range during working hours talk to Mr. Nixon on the EBRSO side who is very well versed in S&W revolvers.
Or stop by the LPSO range and ask Turtle to fix it.

Yes, it's a dowel that is chamfered at both ends. Not something you're going to find at a regular hardware store.

The firing pin retaining pin doesn't undergo any tremendous amount of stress directly, but it's also a part that you don't want to have fail. Your best bet might be to call Smith & Wesson and see if they'll send you another one. They'll probably want the serial number and exact model of the gun (that will be stamped on the frame under the crane), but they've been good to me in the past and sometimes ship little things like that for free.

I wouldn't jam a non-factory piece in there. You'd risk widening the hole, which is going to cause a lot of difficult-to-solve problems down the road.

My money is on me having at least 1 J hammer in my stash of goodies.

You’re late to the party or I would have stopped by.
