Here's an update with some selected quotes.

"Formal charges of making a terrorist threat in the first degree are now pending against Dmitriy Andreychenko, police say."

"Missouri is an open-carry state. But its laws do prohibit gun owners from displaying their weapons in a threatening way. For instance, even someone who holds a valid conceal-carry endorsement and is openly carrying a gun can run afoul of the law 'if the firearm is intentionally displayed in an angry or threatening manner, not in necessary self-defense.'"

I hope the charges stick and they make an example out of him. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

It also seems he geared up in the parking lot right before entering the Walmart.

    Missouri Revised Statutes

574.115. 1. A person commits the offense of making a terrorist threat in the first degree if such person, with the purpose of frightening ten or more people or causing the evacuation, quarantine or closure of any portion of a building, inhabitable structure, place of assembly or facility of transportation, knowingly:
    (1) Communicates an express or implied threat to cause an incident or condition involving danger to life; or
    (2) Communicates a false report of an incident or condition involving danger to life; or
    (3) Causes a false belief or fear that an incident has occurred or that a condition exists involving danger to life.
    2. The offense of making a terrorist threat in the first degree is a class D felony.
    3. No offense is committed under this section by a person acting in good faith with the purpose to prevent harm.
    (L. 2000 S.B. 944 574.150, A.L. 2002 S.B. 712, A.L. 2014 S.B. 491)
    Effective 1-01-17

I believe he communicated an implied threat. And because he was filming peoples reactions, it was with the purpose to frighten people. My guess is that there will be a plea bargain and he pleads guilty to a misdemeanor.

Got to love the media's reporting on this. Every one of them point out that he was detained by an off duty firefighter. Since when do firefighters carry guns. Why won't they just admit that he was detained by an armed citizen.

edit: Missouri is a constitutional state, so the firefighter didn't need a permit.

I worry phrases like threatening or angry are too subjective.
Safety on, muzzle down, low ready for many would be non-threatening, but hanging from my neck across the front would be ‘triggering’ for many others. I’m not sure there is a way to carry any rifle that allowed for rapid deployment that would seem non-threatening in a Wal-Mart. Pretty much anything short of muzzling someone is non-threatening at a hunting camp.

Unfortunately we are fighting an up hill battle with our scary black rifles. My bolt gun isn’t perceived as scary as my AR, even in groups of gun guys. As mentioned earlier people rarely bat an eye at a sidearm. We carry guns to protect ourselves and others and lets be honest an AR would be a better tool for that job, but for many reason we usually choose a sidearm every day. Plain and simple long guns are scarier because they are more noticeable and more effective at killing things.

We don’t need any more restrictive laws especially not a law saying no open carry of rifles. Sensible people vote for sensible laws which are eventually used to commit unspeakable acts against those same people.

Derps have been open carrying rifles for years and responsible firearm owners have been cringing for years. This is about as surprising as hearing that water is wet. Hell, in days past there were groups of people on this site who thought it was a good thing to do.

Terrorist Threat for MO Walmart Open Carry Rejected by Prosecutor

The title of the article is a little misleading. He wasn't charged with first degree but he was charged with second degree.
