    Great info. I guess I need to look at my SP1 , IT has no forward assist. But COLT says 1980

    I doubt the upper is original to the lower. My SP1 was born in 1973 and does not have the forward assist. Mine still had the Edgewater buffer, I have it a modern spec buffer and a new spring before I shot it (original parts bagged & tagged). I've had zero malfunctions.
