If it's a high end rifle, I would say a potential buyer would be a bit picky with what they are looking for because they may have to spend more money to reconfigure what they buy on the used market. For someone buying used to look for a deal to have a rifle, I would suggest they are ok with a budget rifle. Unfortunately for the sellers, you can get a decent budget rifle for as low as $350 right now. It's getting to the point (or may have crossed the point) where it's cheaper to buy than to build for a rifle with a standard configuration. In general, I believe the AR market has always been a buyers market. People selling AR's, in my opinion, tend to overprice their rifles in the hopes of recouping as much as their cost as possible. While I understand that concept, most don't recognize that some of the add-ons that add value to their rifle contain little or no value to the buyer and they'd be better off returning the AR to as stock as possible and selling off the add-ons individually.

Sorry if it seems I jumped up on a soapbox with my opinion.

    I would have to know who built the gun if a "Build" if it was a build as new are a dime a dozen now. {Well Amost}
And great used like new ones are a buyers market.

    The market is saturated.

You have the lower end / budget friendly brands such as:
    Palmetto State Armory
    DPMS
    Smith & Wesson
    Ruger
    Sig Sauer
    Windham Weaponry
    Diamondback

    The Mid-Tier / Duty Rifles:
    Bravo Company USA
    Sons of Liberty Gunworks
    Sionics
    Daniel Defense

    Then the high end:
    Knight Armament Co
    Hodge

There is an option at every price point from $300 to $4,000+.

For what it's worth, you can assemble a quality basic rifle for about $800-1,000. That's better than the Obama scare days when a $400 rifle was demanding a $1200 price tag.

Side note, you're going to need more than a claw hammer and some vise grips to put one together.

Best it’s ever been for a time to get into an AR or 3.
I bought a couple high end AR’s lately simply to tear down and use parts from because I bought them just that cheap.

Well then you have a certain pawn shop in houma selling a Bear Creek AR ($400 new) for $800, and the thing was rusted to hell. I'm still laughing.
