I agree...they are free to set their own policy. But, like all the media, politicians and anti-gun folks screaming about the number of people killed by guns and demanding legislation to stop it......

......where is this rhetoric with cigarettes?? Why are they not trying to shut down tobacco companies?

If it has not become a gun free zone ,then im not sure how you enforce one law and not another.
Too me open carry is the same thing as Concealed, just a shirt tuck away.I say make it a 50
state conceal carry law requiring no permit, like 18 other states are doing.

WalMart isn't "banning" open carry from their stores. Read carefully: they're "asking" people not to OC. They're explaining to their managers that they can ask someone to leave a store, which (as private property owners) they've always had the right to do.

It's actually a pretty smart play on their part ... make the stupid suburban moms happy without actually having to "ban" anything.

Dropping handgun ammo is more concerning. Unfortunately, I have little faith in gun owners putting their money where their mouth is and shopping elsewhere ... people will squeal and bellyache about this and then go to WalMart and fill their cart up.

I don’t get why people are so upset and ready to boycott at Walmart not allowing its customers to carry when the same people just left a job that won’t allow them to carry at work. I don’t see many people quitting their jobs and that’s a more personal relationship than Walmart.

So Walmart caved in to David Hoggs demands....unreal If that wasn't enough, Walmart sent a letter to Congress demanding they basically "Do Something" to further infringe on the 2nd A.

I see this as Walmart taking orders from violent criminals and 103Ms. This kind of decision emboldens lunatics by letting them know that terrorism works.
Perhaps they should hire John Hinckley as Executive VP?

The only boycott going on is Walmart boycotting handgun ammo sales. For me this will mean fewer trips to Walmart, since the handgun ammo will not be available there. My local Walmart is only a mile away from the shooting range I visit. That is why I am not happy about this.
Aside from spending time with my Wife and pets, doing an exercise circuit at the gym, I go to the range. My range sessions are like workouts. I tend to fire an equal number of rounds right hand, left hand, and isosceles stance. These activities help to relieve my anxiety. There is nothing wrong with recreational exercise for veterans who suffer from anxiety. I owe no one or any corporation an apology for serving our country and engaging in lawful recreational activities.

I personally would prefer everyone to open carry. It’s simple if everyone (or just the greater majority) carried their would be no soft target environment. Also anyone else notice how polite people are when the threat of violence is more obvious? The problem is not many carry period and most of us don’t want the attention from doing something that appears out of the norm.

There is a lot of disappointment to go around in this thread.

First: if you want to buy your ammo from Wally-World because it’s a little cheaper and it keeps the boss off your @$$ about spending too much money go for it. And anyone who puts you down for finding a fairly low effort strategy to shoot more should be sucker punched in the taint. But that’s the problem with the internet everyone struggles to carry there nuts in a 5 gallon bucket.

Second: Walmart blows! Here’s a company constantly being bashed by the left wing socialists, and they never pass up an opportunity to alienate paying customers. Also if they are campaigning against the 2A, we need to stand our ground and hit the where it hurts.

**** em... If my wife didnt work for Walmart, I would rarely go in there. 90% of the time I walk into walmart, its to pick her up from work, and I carry daily. Literally. At work, in my personal time, even in bed. For the last several years since i started training and carrying, I've never been more than 5-6ft away from a weapon. Its become a lifestyle. If I have to go in walmart for anything, ill just throw my shirt over it as previously stated. And ill continue to shop at the mom n pop shops. They give better customer service anyway. To me, the customer service factor is worth the extra few pennies I spend.

Walmart can be useful, but i personally was getting concerned more and more about going there.
Especially after the shootings and more so when thinking about hauling the kids there. So no more ammo and no guns is best as someone else already stated and I agree that open carry in Wally World does not bring the respect for each other as it should, too many stoooopid people...

    My problem is.
Most of the time not all most, I never see a clean cut well dressed person Open Carry.
You know why? The go unnoticed. Or if they are seen dissmissed..
I believe Wal-Mart worded that so as to say like signs ya,see no shirt no shoes no service.
It leaves it up to them who stays, and who goes. So that they have have a covered when they toss out whom ever why ever.
So it does not end up like Starbucks or Bathroom Craziness
Same way the last company I worked for had a who cares if ya carry. He'll I made the owner buy and practice. And took his gun on ,regular basis to clean and rotate ammo.
He was, asked why y'all carry by someone he said because we care
