    Backorders are fun!

I put in an order over at Optics Planet last November! for a Faxon Arak21, the model with 556 and 7.62x39 barrels.

It came in on Monday!!! So almost 11 months!!

Now it is time to decide what kind of stock to run on it. I have 2 ideas, a side folder, and a collabsible PDW style stock.

Keep in mind the Arak21 uses a stock ar lower, but does not need any sort of buffer tube as the recooil assembly is located in the upper receiver.

I am steering away from the PDW style stock for 2 reasons, the AR variety as still too long when collapsed, as they all have to offer some sort of buffer tube/receiver extension, even if they run a shortened/modded bcg. Nordic components used to make a PDW for AR22 and similar, as those do not need to run a buffer tube at all. The Nordic would be cool, however it will have a crap cheek weld. That is my main issue with the PDW stock, the lack of a decent cheek weld.

I do not really like long stocks, I have no issue using a warsaw length ak stock, and usually run an m4 2 clicks out.

So a side folding stock is what I have settled on, I bought the KNS precision 1913 rail adapter for the back of the ar lower, planning on using something like the various SIG MPX side folding stocks.

My issue with those is 2 fold, the length of pull, and the cheek height. The minimalist stock looks to be the best as it is thing in cross section, I really do not want an ar diameter buffer tube with a ar stock folded up on the side. Also, right side folding is mandatory for my uses.

Lage mfg have a few interesting choices, but I am not really too interested with the multiple bolt together pieces it takes to get a side folder that interfaces with a 1913 rail. I have seen the UTG side folding hinge, but it is a bit cheap and the corners are sharp.
