I know that you used to be able to ship a long gun to a resident of the state of Louisiana without an FFL being involved . Anyone know if this is still okay?

It may be technically legal, but the people at the Post Office are not aware of this and will make a scene like you are a criminal. Big hassle, I decided never to try it again. UPS used to let a private person ship a firearm to an FFL, but no longer where I live. An FFL must ship it. what is legal and what is allowed are often two different things.

Unfortunately, you are correct. Doubtful that anyone on the counter, a supervisor or even the postmaster will know their own regulations.
