Definitely interesting, but too much of a risk that it could go bad.

Trying to merge less-lethal with a lethal option just involves too much potential for error.

Under stress, it'd be entirely too easy easy to double-tap and fire your "less-lethal" metal ball and then also fire a much more lethal metal ball. I can't see any situations where this would make sense where a beanbag shotgun or a taser wouldn't work better (with cover from someone armed with lethal as well).

I doubt it’ll take off. More likely to be thrown aside. Batman’s tool belt is already full. Too many reasons to pass on this. That is one hell of a golf ball launcher tho.

A lot of agencies go with the yellow taser and have their officers wear the taser on their off side. Reaching for lethal and reaching for less-lethal require very different movements.

Yabut, the only merge with taser and sidearm is the officer.
This would be literally merging the firearm with a gadget. Bad juju.
There have already been a few, er, inadvertent shootings that were meant to be taser shots. I can just imagine how this fiasco would turn out. But I’m .100% certain that no officer would ever use less than lethal in a situation that didn’t call for it...repeatedly...to the gonads or anything like that.
    Oh, wait...

So in today's politically correct climate, I know the "R" word is supposed to be avoided, but I think this idea in and of itself is wholly worthy of bringing it back. It can be assigned an entirely new meaning, and become detached from any previous negative connotation related to people and conditions, taking on an new definition specifically related to this invention: RETARDED! There, now it's no longer a pejorative insult, just the name of a new, stupid product.
