There’s an LMT AR I’m looking at that comes with what it calls its “standard semi-auto BCG “.

Can I replace the semi-auto BCG with a full auto without causing any problems?

I’ll hang up and listen. Thx

You should be good to go. I’ve never had issues going to the extra mass of a full auto BCG, but I’ve heard of a few folks having issues that were resolved by going to a full auto BCG. Except for a few older colts, all my 5.56 AR stuff runs on full auto BCG’s. That’s just about all you will find now days anyway. You can always gimme a shout if you wanna try one. I have a dozen or so spares.

Nice, thanks, Magdump. Still debating whether to pull the trigger on the LMT, but I’ll let you know.

Is there issues with the standard LMT BCG? I don’t own one just wondering if it would function any better with a full auto BCG?

None that I’m aware of. And for my purposes the SA is likely not an issue. I’ve read that the FA provides additional weight that adds reliability. Given the choice I’d just prefer the FA.

A heavier carrier will technically help slow the BCG down. An overgassed gun with a carrier moving too quickly can lead to malfunctions and bolt bounce. Most AR's are overgassed due to the manufacturer not knowing what the end user will be shooting through it. In the entirety of the AR market, very little factory rifles are built for specific ammunition and use cases.

If the BCG was properly tested and made of quality materials, then the only reason a FA carrier would be necessary is if you have a FA rifle.

You’re right. Being the rifle is an LMT I probably shouldn’t mess with it! lol
