My wife and I decided to spend our anniversary down in Grand Isle this weekend fishing and hanging out and were successful doing both. We fished Saturday and Sunday and went out to eat at a local establishment Saturday night and even watched the first half of the Tigers beat down of Arkansas.
The tide would be rising all day and the solar lunar tables predicted good fishing from around 10 -12 each day so we didn’t have to be on the water at the crack of ridiculous, plus the front brought some rain so on Saturday so we didn’t hit the water til 10:30 am. We fished soft plastics ( matrix shad )all day and ended up fishing til 4:00 pm. We caught some nice fish plus some small reds and specks and ended up keeping 2 nice reds, a beautiful black drum and 4 specks. On Sunday we got going a little earlier and picked up some live shrimp to spice up the trip and was glad we did. I caught a keeper red around 8 am on plastic and after that it was pretty slow til 10 am , but the tide started to flow in and things picked up. We found a canal that intersected some other canals and ended up picking up some trout and redfish using live shrimp. I only brought 25 shrimp so we ran out pretty quick as they had a bunch of small reds and specks picking at the shrimp, but watching my wife land a dandy red and a few 15 inch trout made my day. She even picked up a nice sheephead to round out the day. It wasn’t the French Riviera, but some people do call Grand Isle the Cajun Riviera, and it’s a special place for my wife and I. So when your wife wants some romance on the coast, take her down to Grand Isle and take her fishing. Who knows it could be the start of a beautiful thing.

    Kennah!
Both the fish and the wife are definite keepers.
It is wonderful to see folks just enjoying themselves simply.
Congratulations to the both of you.
May you have many more joyous years together.
