I love the 22LR cartridge. I shoot 22 a lot from various platforms and I must say, the AR-15 with a dedicated 22LR upper with Blackdog magazines is my favorite. It's been extremely accurate, the most reliable, and SUPER easy to clean. Just push a pin, run a patch... and shoot!!! Thousands of rounds and still love it!! *Who else??

I shoot a MP15-22 and love it. Super reliable and shoots everything but Remington Golden Bullets well. Not a dedicated upper but is an AR build.

Before they made 15-22 And the others I bought one of the 1st Sig 522. And extra black dog magazines it came with a,little red_green dot. It is flawless.
I did get a 22 conversion to use in my SP1 and H_Bar but wonder if it will work with the 16 inch 1 in 7 barrel of the SP1?

I have the Sig 522 and yes... it shoots everything reliably!! Ive heard I t shoots suppressed reliability as well. It’s as good as what I’m doing with the AR platform, only thing it lacks is the trigger upgrade options. (.22LR and Binary Triggers go well together.) = Affordable Mag Dumps!!! LOL!!!
    Still love the Sig 522!!!

One night on Live PD they found an S&W 15-22 plus a pistol in the bushes after a shootout. At first, they thought it was a 5.56 one. Then said Oh it's a 22lr

I run a JP .22 upper on one rifle and it is a hoot. The biggest problem is loading the mags, they go empty so fast. I have a Colt rimfire conversion and while it does work, it’s not very accurate, the 1 in 8 twist rate is just not compatible with the .22 rimfire round.

Enhance your CMMG/PSA style conversions running S&W M&P 15-22 mags!!

Nice!! Yes... loading the mags can be a chore. I use the Blackdog mag loading tool to speed things up.
•There is also an adaptor you can snap into your lower available on Redi-mag.com that will allow the CMMG/PSA style conversations or dedicated uppers to run S&W M&P15-22 mags that have the thumb buttons on the sides for easy loading. •This will also provide full AR control functionality including Last-Shot bolt hold open feature and bolt release!! :)

My only dedicated 22LR AR is a joke but I like it alright. A commando barreled CAR with a very old fast twist barrel that’s half flash suppressor and prolly shot out and the old GI trainer BCG. I guess it’s the first conversion kit they ever made. Works like a charm tho and apparently needs zero cleaning. Just spray a shot of CLP in there somewhere and go. Built it mostly from a surplus M16 Kit and I wasn’t about to use any SP 01 or HBAR barrel which was about all I had to spare back then.

Magdump, That SP01 fast twist barrel is probably pretty accurate. As long as it shoots decent and reliably that's all that matters. These AR platform .22's have been more reliable for me then two 10/22's and a Marlin tube fed and they are easy to clean. Good stuff!!
