Got a an AK in a trade just wondering about value and info on it.

Hungarian sa85m parts kit built on a Childers receiver that was given a battle worn finish to match parts kit then the gun was clear Cerakoted... built by Kustom Kotings in Mississippi.
Just looking for information on the parts kit, the build and maybe a value.
Any info would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Look on the barrel under the handguard to see if there are any markings. I do not remember any fixed stock kits imported recently. I could be wrong. If there are markings post pictures.

$550-575 without knowing barrel, and with the assumption its head spaced properly.

So I just follow the AK market somewhat closely, I wouldn't claim to be an "expert" but I will point out that WASR 10's are going for $750 bucks right now, c39v2's are 6-850 depending on config, I'm not familiar with the sa85m, but I quick search on gunbroker shows several sa85m's going in excess of a thousand dollars. I don't know the value of that but I wouldn't assume its less than 700, considering decent "starter AK" like WASR is 750....

An original barrel SA85 properly assembled on a Childers receiver could potentially be more valuable than a WASR or C39 to the right person. Not as many of those original Hungarian fixed stock kits around compared to others. Again, you would want to find the right buyer.

clear ceracoat over battle worn... Style over substance?

Quite interesting, I have one of the fixed stock Hungarian kits in a box somewhere, need to get it built.

I would say the rifle will have value to a select few, those who want a battle worn finish, and those who can appreciate the somewhat rare Hungarian parts kit. A regular guy looking for an ak would likely not see much difference over a wasr.

I would say that it would depend on the barrel, chrome us, OEM hammer forged, us nitride, etc. And the assembly quality, rivet settings, etc. Childers make a nice receiver, I have used a bunch of them.

Probably 550 to 750, depending on the stuff mentioned above.
