Anybody know anything about WWII German blades? My dad bought me a dagger he found in a flea market. Marked meine ehre heißt treue but not the length of the blade as I've been seeing online. If you stood the blade on the point its readable one word per line. Handle feels sorta like bakelite. There should be a bar across the top that's missing and there was probably a silver eagle that's missing on the handguard. Metal feels light. Handguard is too small for me but I have big hands... No maker's marks, etc.

I'm trying to figure out if it's a letter opener or a replica or a real German blade or something else... I can't find anything to match on google images.

I'll take some pics but it may take a day or two.

Only stating the obvious but a pic or two might help the cause. My dad and I are both collectors but his collection boasts more daggers and the like. I’m more the firearms type so I only have a Hitler youth knife. He’s got a collection of fixed blades with third reich markings and a couple of SS blades. The steel is heavy so I’m thinking high carbon. I’m gonna call him tomorrow and ask about the one you’re describing. I’ll get back if I get anything.

SS Chained Dagger maybe type 2, missing more a top pommel. Search this and you will find examples.

Yes, but the lettering is in the wrong orientation.

I figured it was a letter opener/ replica but can't match it. Doesn't really matter, It's still cool... :)
