I have been able to make progress on my Jeep and finally got the leaf springs put on and took the body to a body shop about 3 weeks ago. I got a 2.5 inch lift kit from BDS. It’s just leaf springs and shocks but they have great reviews and will allow me to put a little larger than stock tires on it. I started the rebuild one year ago this month and I wish I was a little further ahead but truth be told I’m happy for what I accomplished. The amount of work that has gone into cleaning parts and painting them has been crazy. I’m trying to stay ahead of myself so I’ll paint the parts I plan on working on a week or so out. The other thing that has taken a long time is finding someone who will do the body and paint work. I finally found a guy in Franklinton who has agreed to do it. I know someone who used him and said he does good work. I met him when I brought the Jeep and he’s a really nice guy. Ive also been working on my brake upgrade this week. I’m replacing the nine inch brakes with 11 inch drums that self adjust. It will be a big improvement as far as stopping goes. Also worked on some steering components. Oh I almost forgot, installed my new front and rear bumper. I’m staying motivated and moving forward on the restoration.

    Kennah!
Staying motivated through an ordeal like this is key.
It can be difficult to see the end result for the trail ahead.
You are doing excellent work and I hope you see it through.
Has been fun to follow along with you here on the forums.

    Be well my friend.

I applaud anyone for delving into a restoration!!!

Looks like you are making good progress and you seem to have a good mental outlook for the remainder of the work!

I have been involved in many auto restorations. It is a labor of love for the owner for sure. Make realistic goals and dont stress over the time it takes. I have a 67 ford fairlane that I am currently restoring. Bought it in 2002. Stopped work on it around katrina... so almost 18 years now. Might be time to start work on it again!!!

Appreciate the encouragement. These little 4 wheel drive wonders are known the the world over. I’ll probably write a little piece about jeeps and my relationship with them to add to my Americana series. The story is in my mind, just gotta put it on paper.
