WTT/WTT Cold Combat Commander. Everything about this pistol is custom. Match barrel, 2.5 lb trigger, authentic rare B0-MAR Target sights (from the Mo-Bar company that closed in 2007), magwell, muzzle break, cerakote finish. The slide was filed down for a lower profile and has a tighter fit. This is a 70’s era colt customized by a top competitive shooter in his time. His name and build sheet have been lost as this was 18 years ago. Shoots like a dream. Have 1700$ invested, will sell for $850 or trade at a value of1050. Primarily looking for military grade optics and AK pistols but am open to many things.
Thanks for looking, feel free to text. 504-982-1081

Who were the top 3 gunsmiths? Saying the top 3 gunsmiths in the world worked on it is a BOLD statement. I can probably think of 20-25 off the top of my head and anyone would be hard pressed to rank the top 10, let alone the top 3. That's not even taking different build philosophies into account. Can you post the build sheet for each? Do you still have the original frame?

What do you mean that it "shoots better" than any 1911 ever made? Pretty open ended statement. You mean the felt recoil? Accuracy? Reliability?

Lastly, what do you mean the slide was filed down for a tighter fit? Where was it filed down that it decreased the tolerances? Anyway I can think of would have INCREASED the tolerances and therefore made it looser, not tighter.

Ok, figured out part of it. That probably is the original frame, but with a grip/frame combo that screws together and also adds the rail. Interesting.

Is the comp part of the barrel or is it a bushing comp?

It was more like 18 years so its difficult to remember specifics. In a nutshell I had bought a 70’s era Colt Combat Commander bc they seem more robust than modern 1911’s. The gunsmith I chose is no longer with us, but I say he is/was in the top 3 bc in the late 90’s he placed among the top 3, oftentimes first in the most coveted shooting competitions (IDPA, NRA, etc…) and was also an Olympic shooter. All his 1911’s that he used for competition he smithed himself…therefore its easy for me to say he’s in the top 3, because results in competition showed that.
I said to him, *Make this Colt Combat Commander just like your competition 1911’s.*
I say with confidence this is the best firing, or among the best, because:

    1. Its is extremely accurate, we’re talking 2* groups at 25 yards.
    2. Low recoil bc of its weight and robustness
    3. Extremely reliable with the right high grain ammo
-I don’t have a build sheet . I was young and dumb and didn’t hold on to it.
-it is the original frame what you see is the grip that allows for rail

The original 1911’s slide was not tight as it was meant for combat. He had filed it where the slide meets frame, therefore lowering its height and made it tighter (not sure how i just know it is), which is why high grain ammo is a must.
Yes my post may have seemed like a bold statement, but it is a bold gun. I have great reviews on here and ar15.com, so if whoever buys it doesn’t agree this is one of the finest firing 1911’s then I’d happily return/exchange. I hope that I’ve answered all your questions.

Do you have the original gunsmith installed barrel bushing? He likely fitted it to the barrel/slide

Also, it would be nice to know the name of this smith, just for info purposes.

And by "high grain" ammo do you mean heavy bullet (240gr bullet weight vs 185gr bullet weight), or "hot loaded" higher pressure than std ammo, such as +P or +P+ ammo?

Upon first reading, I was under the impression that there were 3 gunsmiths (who were/are the top 3 gunsmiths in the world) that worked on it.

"...customized by the top 3 gunsmiths in the world..."

Apparently, it was one of the top 3 competitive shooters in the world from the late 1990's, who did the work.

Looks like an interesting piece. I'd love to see it without the plastic wraparound thing.

I will do my best to dig that up for you. This was in 2002 I think it’s safe to presume that if he was a world class shooter, top 3, that his smithing on his own guns would be par. If you were really interested in buying/trading it, we can meet at a range and you will see that is indeed what I say it is.

I may have the original barrel bushing somewhere. Haven’t seen it in a while.
guys, I’m by no means a gun expert. What I do is i buy a gun, then throw ridiculous amounts of money at it to customize the way I want but I can shoot tight groups.
The ammo I was using which cycled flawlessly was Freedom Munitions 230 gr XTP Reman.

    Sir,

I might have come off harsh on my original posts so I do apologize and thank you for responding to the questions asked.

I just think some of what you have written is a little misguided and probably unintentionally. If a person were to come along who was less knowledgeable about firearms they may just get excited and not question what the gun actually is.

For instance, 2in at 25yards isn't that great. There are plenty of mass produced stock factory guns that will beat that. If it was worked on by a top 3 shooter on the WORLD who also knew how to work on guns to shoot as accurately as possible it would be a lot better than 2 inches at 25 yards.

I think that is some of the failed logic here. Just because he won competitions doesn't mean he is a top 3 gunsmith in the world. He was still there guy pulling the trigger.

Arguably, Rob Leatham is probably the top 1911 shooter and has been for awhile now, but doesn't make him a top gunsmith. There's a lot more to being a gunsmith then just making a gun fire accurately.

Its the wild claims that will make this gun harder to sell.

It's a Colt, it will sell. But you need to clean up the ad. Take out of the extra fluff claims. Take that grip/rail piece off and show the gun with its normal frame and just include that as something you're throwing in.

As requested by others, stop beating around the bush and just state who this famed competition shooter who worked on it was.

That, coupled with what I said above will help you sell a lot easier, IMHO.
