    I know that Glocks made here are just as ugly as Glocks made in Austria.

    Okay, so they are the same, and yet different. Got it.
    I'd wonder if the tooling and machinery used are the same here vs there.
    Who sets the standards...

    Nothing different about it. Austria set the standard.

    The only difference you will find between an Austrian stamped Glock and USA stamped Glock in the United States are markings. Every part is identical and both are assembled in Georgia.

    Correct. Absolutely identical other than the country of origin listed on the slide. Sometimes we get Austrian and sometimes US, just depends on the model. People who request one or the other are generally considered newbs.

    Based on an article that I read, for those Glocks manufactured in the U.S., that means the slide, barrel and frame are made here in the U.S., but all materials for the manufacturing process come from Austria. All other parts come from Austria.
