    Hey Guys,
I already read the older thread, but it seems like some time has gone by and I was wondering if anyone has heard any news or has had any run-in's that are relevant with the legality of carrying a switchblade. I believe the law currently prohibits "intentionally concealing a switchblade on one's person". Is this still true? Does anyone know if there are any updates to prosecution or enforcement of this law? I already know "if you get charged you were doing something else wrong anyway and they just tack it on" and also "most officers don't care about a knife, because if you have a CHP you also have a gun!" I have a CHP and understand this. I was just wondering if there were legitimate updates on the legality of this, or if any LEO's know that this isn't being enforced. Or if anyone has a personal anecdote about asking an LEO or being apprehended recently.
    Thanks!

Cliff Notes - Switchblades (OTF Auto Knives) are legal to own and possess in Louisiana since this bill was signed in 2018, however it is still (as far as I know that's why im asking) illegal to "intentionally conceal a switchblade
on your person", even if you have a CHP, as the law reads.

    I. Would wonder to about the *spring assisted*, not marketed as an automatic knife or switch blade, but opens almost instantly. About 5* long.

This and my G43 are an EDC.

Spring assisted is not an auto knife.

No clue about what the OP is asking about, I just carry Kershaw leeks, cheap, enough blade but doesn't draw attention like some other knives I have and the speedsafe assisted opening is fast as I need.

If a person wants speed of deployment to be absolute, then a fixed blade is the only way to carry. The fact that a person can carry a fixed blade makes the automatic knife bans completely idiotic.

The OP is possibly generally curious and the question is about legality not necessarily effectiveness. I found this site that talks about each states concealed knife laws which refers to Automatic knives.
https://www.akti.org/state-knife-laws/louisiana/ my question is if a spring loaded knife isn't considered an auto knife... then what is?

Push button vs pushing on the blade to open

Yes, OP here, This is why I poted in the "Laws, Legalities, & Legislation" and not a different thread... I am purely curious from a legal standpoint, This is what im talking about:

I'm simply wondering if anyone has any news about further legislation, or knows of any planned legislation, or if anyone is an LEO and can clue me in from an enforcement standpoint, how have LEO's decided to/been instructed to handle enforcement, how have DA's decided to handle prosecution etc.

Last I saw from the folks at kniferights dot org they couldn't address the concealed carry portion because it was covered in a different statute than the strait switchblade ban. I think they plan to try to address it in the future, but it can't hurt to donate and shoot them an email.
