I put some chicken thighs and breasts to marinate last night for Shawarma this evening.

Made a nice Greek salad and rice pilaf to go with the chicken Shawarma as well as a garlic sauce for the chicken.

Oh, and you can't have this meal without hummus and olives.

I almost forgot to get a picture of the chicken on the Keg. This was the last of the chicken not quite as done as it should be.

    did you make the hummus?

    Same Question I have.

I've made hummus a few times. Not particularly hard, a bit tedious and time consuming if you hull the chick peas. You don't need to hull the peas but is does make it a little better.

Hard to beat homemade. I find store bought to be very salty now. I do them as hummus & bean dip combined which are pretty good.

This may sound insane, but Blue Runner makes a killer *hummus base;* their phrasing, not mine.
It’s only available in #10 food service cans via wholesale.
A friend of mine got some by mistake (they own a catering business) and asked me if I wanted it.
    Fantastic stuff.
It’s just chickpeas, salt and oil processed down finely.
You add tahini and whatever else you want to make your own variety.

If you ever get a chance to get some, I suggest you do.

No, I didn't make the hummus. This was Sam's Member Mark brand. Not bad at all! I used to always get Pita Pal from Costco but they had a recall last year and never came back.

I've known about the BR hummus base for years. I've even been too the warehouse in Gonzales picking up beans and asked if I could buy some but they wouldn't sell to me.

    It’s beyond good.
If I can get ahold of more I’ll let you know for sure.
