I wonder if masks like this would keep me from getting in trouble despite the fact they are designed to allow air to leave the mask unfiltered. I see people wearing these all the time.

If they go by the CDC’s requirements for a face covering, I think it would be acceptable.

Those are the same masks that were advertised all over Facebook as being "better than n95". My mom fell for it and I had to send them back to China last week. The packaging says "Sport Mask with exhalation valves" and the little white "filters" that were included were very thin cloth that you could see through. Google Zestads Limited if you want to see more about the scam.

I am starting to have my doubts about this infection rate here in the US. Why? Consider this and someone explain it to me:

India has a population of over 1 Billion people. That is a 1 with 9 zeros behind it.
They live literally on top of each other. Over 26 Million in New Delhi Metropolitan area alone. New Delhi is a city, not a state!
They have open sewage all across the country.
Their rivers (where hundreds of thousands swim, bathe, and wash clothes), are contaminated with filth and bacteria.

    They only have 591,000 cases?
We (US), has over 2.7 million?

What about Brazil, and other reputable world **** holes were the people are stacked on top of each other in shitty filthy places?

    https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#countries

Anyone want to take a stab at this?

I am starting to think we are getting a snow job here!!!!

They aren't testing as heavily as the USA. Info below from https://coronastats.co/

Well we hit a new record. Assuming we'll hit a few more records in the coming week as people ignore all guidelines to have 4th of July parties. :twitch:

    https://www.ft.com/content/a6b959b8-83db-434f-bee4-c431b2187cac

The number of new US coronavirus cases surpassed 50,000 for the first time ever on Wednesday, propelled by record rises in some of the most populous states, including California and Texas. The surge in cases has increased concerns about the speed at which the disease is spreading in emerging US hotspots ahead of the July 4 holiday weekend.

A further 52,982 people in the US tested positive for coronavirus over the past 24 hours, according to Covid Tracking Project, topping the previous record increase from June 26 by more than 8,600. Throughout the month of June, the daily case rate in the US rose 105 per cent.

California, which had some of the earliest cases of coronavirus in the US, had largely escaped the early wave of cases that hit states such as New York in the north-east. However, that trend has reversed in recent weeks, after it began to loosen some restrictions.

The state’s health department reported 9,740 cases since Tuesday, taking the total number of positive cases there to almost 233,000. Texas reported 8,076 cases, topping a record set the previous day by more than 1,100, with 57 deaths, the biggest one-day increase since the middle of May.

Hospitals in some parts of Texas, which was among the last US states to lock down and first to reopen, have been overwhelmed by the sudden rise in cases. More than 6,900 people are hospitalised there as of July 1, a record for America’s second most populous state.

I don't think we will ever get a clear picture on that as people with mild symptoms will stay home thinking it is Covid or maybe a cold and get over it and never think twice. A lot of people are told to stay home if they think they have it and only to go into the hospital if it gets bad enough for extreme care.

I've been "social distancing" way before it was cool. (I'm Hermit, after all.)
If I have to be near other humans, I wear an N95 (properly, BTW.)
I don't shop; it's either Walmart pickup, Costo.com or Amazon.
Can't afford to get the Rona; two or three weeks in the hospital and my business is in big trouble.

That's the problem. Let's say there are 1000 new cases. How many of those cases are people being hospitalized?

Very few, but I ain't rollin' those dice.
I'm old with high blood pressure (not overweight thankfully.)
You see rare cases of fairly young people hospitalized for weeks.

I can't agree or disagree with you. There is a resident expert here who I'm hoping will chime in.

Not all states are reporting hospitalization numbers but this graph shows the states that do https://coronavirus.1point3acres.com/en/test

Edit: Ok that link shows the data state by state but I don't see how to look at overall data across all states. That website says it gets the data from https://covidtracking.com/data which shows 35,937 currently hospitalized overall as of today.

So I downloaded the data from the covidtracking.com website and charted the "currently hospitalized" data in Excel

Just think! If you wore that while rioting; I'm sorry, peacefully protesting, you would have full immunization! :mamoru:
