Moving forward slowly but surely. Got the brakes installed and have basically finished up the brake lines. I also cleaned the engine to get it ready to paint. While cleaning it I changed the gasket on the oil pan and the front cover that goes over the timing gears. It took me way longer to clean the engine that I was expecting. It was not even that dirty, but breaking it down plus the prep for painting was time consuming. I’ve also been working the bees as it’s that time of the year again. The bees wait for no one. It was such a mild winter that the bees are building up quicker than normal. You gotta watch them or they will swarm on you if they get too congested.

I’m trying to do it as good as I can while I have it torn apart. It is a mind game for sure. You can’t think too far ahead about the work that you have left as it can overwhelm you very quickly.

You never know how the honey crop will turn out, as everything is dependent on the environmental conditions. They do seem to have a head start though as the weather has been very cooperative so far. Rain is always good, but not too much. It’s also better to have shorter showers than rain for days at a time. The more time the bees can fly during the day the more honey they can make. In a perfect world it would rain at night and be sunny sky’s during the day. That’s a pipe dream for sure, but we can dream can’t we.

Not sure if there’s a bee keeper community but I have a buddy in Hammond who mentioned he’s expecting a surplus season, directly related to the mild winter and the number of healthy hives he has at present. Hope yours will be the same. Nice work on the Jeep btw.

Are you positive that you have the brake shoes in the correct position, I seem to recall that the shoe with the longer lining goes toward the rear

The brakes are correct. The front brakes are up graded so they are different from the back. The front are 11 inch safe adjusting and the rear are 9 inch with manual adjust with small cams on the brakes. The breaks are opposite on the manual adjust than how they go on the newer drum brakes. That was very observant of you though as most people would not have a clue.
