ive been looking for a revolver in .45lc. mostly for target and deer hunting.
the 5" and 6" judges are very prevalent.

what are your guys thoughts on the judge for .45lc?

    any issues with 25-30yd accuracy?
    reliability?
    ergonomics, and recoil?

ill be handloading, and casting for the gun if that is a factor.

I just feel you'd be better served by a Ruger Blackhawk or similar... no need for that massive long cylinder if you are only shooting 45 colt. This is purely anecdotal as I've never shot a Judge

Are you planning on actually hunting deer with the pistol?

I love my Judge, I mostly shoot .410 at snakes. Like said above, if you are only going to shoot 45LC, there are better options.

The Judge and similar clones such as the S&W Governor may shoot .410 and .45 LC, but do both terribly. If you are only looking to shoot .45 LC, then look elsewhere.

The judge may be a nice dual purpose pistol but if I was interested purely in the .45LC round I’d definitely go with another choice. I like Ruger six shooters period. But I handled and shot a Uberti in 45LC once and still want one. I believe they retail for significantly less than the Ruger single six and Red/Black Hawk pistols.

I think it’s called a Cattleman. It’s actually a redone Colt single action army. Real sweet pistol. Said he paid a little over 400 new.

Had a few judges, never shot one for absolute accuracy.

Build quality is less than a std smith steel revolver. Much lower than one of the newer night guard or scandium models.

I would not buy one to just shoot 45lc. Either a smith or a ruger model would be a much better choice. I don't shoot 45lc, too expensive and I dont reload. And 410 is too expensive for its limited capability for my uses. Only 45/410 I currently have is a heizer single shot!!!

If you're handloading, concerned with 25-30 yard accuracy, reliability, and ease of recoil, why are you not looking into a .44 magnum K frame?

He is probably looking at a Judge since they can be found for $300-400. You might look at making 450 Mongo rounds for it which will put the 45cal bullets closer to the end of the cylinder for better accuracy. I've seen 444 Marlin brass used for this and 460 S&W brass may work. Of course you can't load them up to their high pressure specifications for the Judge. Regular 45 Colt brass or ammo may be accurate enough for 25-30 yard shots on game.

    Armatures......

You shoot the charging beast in the face to blind it....

Then you put 2 rounds thru its side...

Stick the barrel in the beast's ear and pull the trigger....

The last round is for you in case none of that $hit works....!!!

I was looking at the judge over the Ruger Redhawk because for every 1 Redhawk I see 4 judges for sale.
I've had a blackhawk and loved it.

The 44mag is too much recoil on my jacked up wrists. I had a Ruger sbh in .44 and loved it, but the .45lc is not as sharp of recoil.
