I have to agree and I’m a .44 mag fan.
The Smith is a duty weapon as is. Plenty of caliber and very manageable. Reloads could be a split second breeze and they are sweet double action shooters.
I would like the 686 please i will PM you my address
BTW) one trip to Cabelas they had a, 8 inch 686 performance center gun in the case.
And an empty Cabelas Credit card.
I said how many guns does one man need?
They also had Sig MPX and 500 S&E 8 3/8
So the answer must be at least 3 more.
I left the Perfirmace Center 686 and thought i will get the SIG MPX LATER...
The whole way home I had tge feeling i should have taken the 357 home.
It looked lonely sitting in the glass case.
Maybe because of personal preference....because I have a couple handfuls of them.....and have owned one Ruger wheel gun.....that shot like old people having sex. All of my S&W wheel guns will light kitchen matches.
I’d get an older no lock, 6 round 686 and send it to Clark Custom or other quality gun revolver smith for a good trigger job. And I’d have them change out the front sight to a Dawson Precision fiber optic front sight. Then I’d put a Bowen Arms rear sight on it, change out the grips and call it good. The 7 round cylinders tend to go out of timing with a lot of use. I’ve had to send mine in twice over the years for timing issues. Good guns. My 686 is one of my most accurate revolvers (under 2 inches at 50 yards) with a wide variety of 38 and 357 loads. The 627 is sweet too, and as accurate as the 686 but also can have timing issues with the 8 round cylinder.
The revolver I’m shooting mostly these days is the model 14-5 with full under lug. It’s a sweet 38.
I really like my old Smith 28-2 hwy patrol in.357 that I have had for years. but shoot mostly .38 fwc. my target shooting bro has a 686 in .357 and its much slicker revolver.....
