I don't know if any of you ever listened to John Prine. I listened in 1974 era of Viet Nam when I was a Marine in Japan. I did not serve in Viet Nam but a lot of the guys I lived with in the barracks were Viet Nam vets. A lot of his music was anti Viet Nam or anti war but a lot was deep contemporary poetry to music. I know many of his songs and can play and sing many of his songs. One of my favorite was Sweet Revenge. "I got kicked off of Noah's ark. I turned my cheek to one kind remark. There were two of everything and one of me. When the rains came tumbling down. I held my breath and stood my ground. And I watched that ship go sailing out to sea."

He died today of the coronavirus. I am saddened by this.

Wow, sad to hear this. He was supposed to play Jazz Fest this year too. Terrible news.

My girl’s uncle plays an incredible cover of *Donald and Lydia.*

He was a favorite. That sucks.
"Don't make much sense that common sense don't make no sense no more."

Every one of these deaths that I have some emotional connection to brings it home.
It got Ellis Marsalis, Bobby Hebert's dad, Tom Dempsey (I bought a van from him).

Just after I posted that, I started crying.
I'm hardly doing much different (I'm Hermit),
but this **** is getting to me emotionally.

Thank you for your honest words.
These are difficult times and many people are going through a wild and unfamiliar emotional response to them.
Circumstances will get better eventually so try to remember that not all is lost.
I’m very used to crisis situations and I too can find myself wandering into a bit of a malaise.
    Reminds me of after Katrina.
Everyone I knew in the hospital was on some form of antidepressant.
The most popular was Lexapro; it was so common in fact that folks referred to it as Vitamin L.
I’d often hear people reminding each other to take their vitamins.
But it did get better and so will this.

My dad exposed me to a lot of good music when I was young. Prine did a number with Bonnie Raitt back in the day that we both liked but I can’t find at the moment. Back in the 80’s when she made a comeback that most people thought was her debut, lol.
The world should feel this loss.

    RIP John

When I die let my ashes float down the Green River
Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam
I'll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin'
Just five miles away from wherever I am.

So sad to see John Prine's passing. I saw him some years ago in NOLA with Iris DeMent and really enjoyed it.

Also bought a 1992 Samurai from Tom Dempsey. He was very fair. Life goes on but it is troubling sometimes.
