    I believe the rule book just says "adequate" hearing protection. I know guys that run custom plugs, but more often guys run plugs and muffs. Don't mess around with your hearing, buy good protection. I wouldn't go with some $20 cheapies from Amazon.

    Howard Leight Impact Sports are $40ish.

    If you don’t like the way ear muffs push your glasses, look into Noise Fighter replacement pads. They have cutouts for your glasses.
