New Revolver I Picked Up 1851 RM Conversion

Decided to order a Cimarron, Uberti made 1851 Colt Cartridge Conversion in .38spl. I have always liked the look of the early Colt cap and ball guns and have wanted a conversion for a while. I finally settled on the 51 since its a gun I am very familiar with already since I have the bp versions.

Anyways, I figured I would share.

    It’s purty.

No issues with shooting 38 spl with no top strap?

No. None that I have heard of. Now with cowboy loads anyways. Not rated for +P or anything. They make open tops in larger calibers also like .45 Colt.

I struggled for a while with what I wanted. Most of my cowboy guns are .45 Colt and its one of my favorite calibers but I really like the 1851 Navy and it only comes in .38spl at this time. I kicked around the idea of getting a 60 Army or 71/72 Open Top so I could get it in .45 but ended up just going with .38 so I could get the 51.

AK Shooter, I like those too but decided I did not want the snake on the grips.

The 1851 is probably my favorite of that era. Just feels good in the hand.
Well we don't rent pigs and I figure it's better to say it right out front because a man that does like to rent pigs is... he's hard to stop.

It sure does. Maybe the best pointing gun ever.

The last 7 or 8 years that I actively shot in SASS I used a pair of 1872 Open tops in .38. With blackpowder loads. Elegant guns.
