    Ford's Courier was indeed a Mazda pickup. Until 1993, Mazda built their own trucks, the B2000,B2200, and B2600. In 1994, Mazda started branding a Ford Ranger as it's small truck, labeling them the B2300, B3000, and B4000. The Ford Probe was Mazda built as well. The Mazda Tribute was a Ford Escape.

    GM did the same "model sharing"with Isuzu, and Chrysler did so with Mitsubishi.

    Ford has never owned Mazda.

    For a short while Ford had owned shares of Mazda, but they were never the majority shareholder.

    The relationship between Ford and Mazda would end after 40 years. In 2008, the companies parted ways, with Ford selling most of its shares, only retaining 11%. The economic crisis was a global issue and caused autos sales to fall, leaving Ford no choice.
