Yes.... saw that on another site....geez!
I haven't really been out. I do work everyday my plan B job (Uber Eats) and killing it!
However, I'm not shopping. Not standing in that line, in the heat for hours. Not paying those ridiculous prices. I guess gouging is the "new norm" AGAIN!
So, my querry is....what ammo is not affected by this mad rush? What ammo is not affected by the "supply vs demand" scenario?
I realize that mostly smaller caliber handgun and rifle calibers take the hit, but are there other calibers or gauges that are still accesible and reasonably priced if not regular price??

Inquiring ostrich minds want to know!

At this rate, I might go back to shooting 45 because they're the same price right now. Yeah, the 9mm prices are outrageous right now.

I had cases of quality American Eagle 124gr. ammunition on this website for $13 a box until recently.
Ammunition and Handguns are in demand and prices are high.
Most dealers are out or have very low inventory on handguns due to new buyers.
Look at the used handguns listed above new retail.

The only thing I can come up with is the ammo you already have.
Exactly. Now is not the time to buy. The time to buy has passed. Hopefully there will be other times to buy. The cases of ammo I bought last year were a good deal at the time. Those prices would be a stellar deal today. Yup.

There is differently a coloration between ammo and fishing weights. I went looking for for bullet weights for fishing and has to go to four stores before find any. Most places are sold out of most sizes. All the lead must be going to ammo manufacturing.

I have yet to pay over $0.21/rd for brass cased 9mm. It’s tough to find, but I’ve bought about 3,000 rounds in the past month.

How much of that 3,000 rounds was quality American made ammunition?

I just got 9 boxes of American Eagle brass cased 9mm from Academy for $11.99/box yesterday. They had probably 60 boxes on the shelf. I stop into Academy every time I pass by and about every fourth time they will be stocked up.

    124gr. or 147r. After tax?

I stopped in a local gun store recently and their 124+P HST was $50 per box before tax which would be approximately $55 per box OTD.
    Most quote prices without tax.

I paid the same for the American Eagle I bought.

    124 or 147 OTD?

    115 gr

    I don't shoot 124gr or 147gr training ammunition unless it's Speer.

I also picked up a case of 55gr 5.56 Lake City XM193 for $0.34 about a month ago. The deals are out there. I can still get HST LE under $0.70/rd and I have been finding deals on most things. The only thing I have had trouble acquiring recently is 12ga Buck or Slugs.

Those are decent prices at the moment, but about 10 cents per round higher than last year, which is about the bottom line increase in popular calibers. What I paid $.15-.28 per round for is starting at $.24-.40 per round now. An extra hundred bucks on a case of XM855 or 9mm FMJ tells me I’m not buying ammo right now because I bought enough when it was cheaper. 1000 rounds of 9mm to my door was around $160 last year, 5.56 could be had for $270 per thousand. I remember many times posting those deals. I shoot a good bit but not 20-30 cases per year. It doesn’t make any sense to me to be buying at the moment. I suppose there are many who didn’t get into shooting until recently and never bought any ammo before the spike in prices, but I can’t imagine them taking part in this thread. I’m also seeing the same retailers advertising the same guns for $100 and up over their advertised prices 6 months ago or less. I generally go into shutdown at this point. I guess it’s just not the same for everyone else into shooting.

FYI, Federal had a 20% fixed price increase recently, so regardless of what you were paying, you will be paying increased prices from here on out.
