My teenage son wanted to shoot some yesterday. I found several of these in the ammo cabinet. Sure wish it was still like this today!

TG&Y and K-Mart were the ones I got my 22lr as a young man.
I do still have 26,000 rnds of surplus 22lr bought 40,000 at 90 a case of 5000. Everyone said I was silly. I may be silly but I have AMMO. It is packed for the long term.

340 Those are military training rounds. You can tell by the contract number on the box. They are Remington standard velocity. I did like you and bought 5 cases at $75 shipped to my door, a few years ago, pre obummer scare, from Military Surplus, if I remember correct.

Yes they are. They have extra meat on the bullet for use in AR 22lr conversions.
I bought some Win at 75 plus,ship prior to the Rem shown.
The ticket was 2013 and the Rem was 90 plus ship.
I fave,away lots,of both to guys who took kids and also friends as gifts.
And when we had the last 22lr shortages they were pissed I would not share.
It is,Standard Vol. And shoots,well in all my Ruger MK pistols, Colt ACE that needs Standard Vol. Before I started getting jtg I was,shooting Match Standard,Vol bricks in the Colt. It us just as good.
And is,like a 22 Sniper in my dads old Remington 513T
We laugh when the news has on 5 or 6 guns and 1000 to 2000 rounds on the news like that person is a crazy person.
And my neibors mention it to us. Did ya,see all the guns and ammo that man had on the news?
More ammo porn. I'm getting old and almost forgot about these. 58 years and counting.
Wasn't that long ago they were still issuing it on the Line at Camp Perry for leg matches, I think 1994 was the last year it was issued. Still could buy it from the CMP not that long ago.
I still have a couple of cartons of Winchester, SUper x, I think stashed away. Bought it at one of the tire/auto supply places about 25-30 years ago for less than $10 per carton. I always watched for sales and bought it for that, and that was high compared to what dad and I got a box for back in the late 50's

I still have bricks of Remington Thunderbolt with the green Walmart price labels on each box. They were $.97 each.
Sports unlimited was a good place to get my 44mag HP ammo back then. 50 rounds for 19.99 was a good deal.

My first.22 ammo was really cheap. I grew up in Shreveport in the 60’s. The Caddo Sheriff conducted a junior rifle program during the summer. My parents would drop me off in the morning and pick me up in the afternoon. I wanted to go every day. For one dollar, you got the daily camp fee, payment toward the cost of your earned NRA badges and awards, the use of a pretty good bolt action .22 rifle, lunch, a Coke and a full box of .22 ammo.
I started going when I was eight. If you were 12, or finished the .22 program (earned all the badges) you could do the shotgun program.
I also remember some stores that sold ammo by the round. If you only wanted six, you could buy just six.
