So much great rock for so long. I would get goosebumps when the Blue Angles/Dreams video came on.
And Keith Richards out lives another rock star.

Raise your hand if you ever told your parents you were going to the camp, going frogging or going spend the night at a friend’s house.......

.......but, really drove to Baton Rouge or NOLA and watched a Van Halen concert.

Was in 7th grade first time I did it...and did it for what seemed like every year until I was probably a Junior in high school.

My first was 81 in Biloxi. Many good concerts on the coast. A few VH shows. I believe there is a audio recording of that show. I remember Roth talking about the girl in his room across the street. General admission shows were the best.

I’m glad Eddie mentioned that Les invented multi track recording. We may have never seen the old 8 track tape if not for Les. Les Paul was much idolized and appreciated by other artists in the industry, but not properly by the music industry itself.

In 79 and 80 I saw VH in NO at the day of rock and roll in the dome and Centroplex

So , while we are on the topic of Van Halen which frontman do you rather David or Sammy ? The band sounded completely different with each of them . I like them with both but if I would have to choose one it would be Dave.

I have to agree. David Lee Roth was definitely the voice of the band. Not to say the 5150 album and tour wasn’t a win, and Sammy Hagar was a true talent but the combo of Dave’s singing and Eddie’s playing (ok, Alex and Mike Anthony were extreme talent too!) were the sound that will always be Van Halen to me.
