They sold out and can not make firearms until new owners get an FFL in 60-90 days and plan to rehire about 400 former employees.
It is difficult for a company to pay people who are unable to work for several months.

If true, someone didn't do their due diligence, or perhaps the purchasing company just had their ignorant heads up their collective asses. I'm sure the stockholders will be impressed by such far-seeing management.

Remington as we knew it is done. They were auctioned off to the seven highest bidders, effectively splitting Remington units up. Remington is also refusing to pay those 585 former employees their benefits under the union agreement/contract. Accrued vacation and separation benefits. You can bet those 585 employees are not happy right now!

204 years of Remington Firearms is done. Sadly. How does this happen to America's oldest firearms manufacturer? Gross mismanagement?

Remington and innovation have not gone hand in hand, at least in my lifetime.

They seemed to skip handguns entirely, for some reason, until someone noticed that 9mm handguns were "sorta" popular. Then they brought out the R9, and the r51, both of which I could have easily said would not be big sellers at all. The r9 had some issues and the r51 was a complete flop. What did they think they were doing? Going to compete with other metal framed single stack carry guns (cause those are super popular, not) or even try to compete with poly framed single stack guns (which had their day in the sun until the 43x/hellcat/365 showed up)?

I really seems like the only thing keeping them going was their ammo, and repackaged shotties like the tac14. I don't remember them making any waves in the distance market with a chassis bolt gun, or anything else rifle related. Just appeared to be a lazy company on their way out, at least to me.
