Wait. Are we talking about defunding them like we’ve done with EPA? Cuz they’re going bat poop crazy fining everyone and their mother, it seems, to pad their shrunken budget. If that’s the defunding we’re talking about, I’m definitely not interested in defunding any more draconian agencies with power to legislate by baseless unelected decree and letting them wage fundraising campaigns at the cost of commerce and freedom.

They just need to be relieved of the chore of regulating firearms. Let them keep tobacco and alcohol. I’d say let them keep explosives as well, but they’d use that to infringe on ammo so....

I might not agree with everything they do but they serve a purpose when it comes
    to illegal firearms.

ATF is not really law enforcement in the same sense. They are a tax collection agency. And they are attempting to make laws where none exist.

ATF is a law enforcement agency in the United States’ Department of Justice that protects our communities from violent criminals, criminal organizations, the illegal use and trafficking of firearms, the illegal use and storage of explosives, acts of arson and bombings, acts of terrorism, and the illegal diversion of alcohol and tobacco products. We partner with communities, industries, law enforcement, and public safety agencies to safeguard the public we serve through information sharing, training, research, and use of technology.

But the ATF is not in the constitution as being a legal law enforcement agency, Only The Sheriff is

I think 99% of the folks labeled deplorable are against defunding the popo. It was a tongue in cheek comment.

But the atf seems to always be able to rub that crowd the wrong way with the attempts to come up with new ways to ban firearm configurations. They have an agenda in mind and they keep running the same plays. Eventually they will score and IMO the right team was just elected to help them out.

What would be a hoot is the ABC boyzs of any given agency comes banging on you're door,You refuse to open the door and instead call the Sheriff dept.

They come out,Arrest said ABC boyzs and then taze em...lol

They may have local LEA with them when they knock on your door and have someone standing by to download your computer as soon as you say it is okay.

True enough, like deciding what’s an illegal firearm to start. Speaking of illegal firearms, I wonder how that Mexican sting operation ever worked out... If it were just a matter of tracking stolen firearms I’m thinking the states can manage their own and seems like there’s a data base and FBI involvement, but again, the ATF truly has no business dictating what gun owners can and can’t own.

If they really are a law enforcement agency, what more (than enforcing current laws) should they be involved in? They are a federal law enforcement agency. So is the IRS. And guess who did the ATF’s job until the ATF was created. The IRS.

The revenuer/tax man/tax collector/regulatory agency that also just happens to be unable to create laws from thin air. Because that falls under Congress and always has since this republic was formed. Other than that, the POTUS can use his executive privilege to enact orders that can be stricken from the books by the next POTUS.
It appears the ATF has a portion of the shooting community hoodwinked into believing that their actions are ok, but they are not. I’m not sure what special consideration has been promised them and by whom, but they’ve completely overstepped their bounds and should be put in check before they become the root of another disaster. SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED.

Nah,Nothing to see here,I did run into a couple of the ATF boyzs several years ago
I was shooting when they drove up,Pulled out these deluxe hard cases and proceeded to put
together a couple of super-duper sniper rifles with night vision and 2 foot long suppressors
    1 was a 300 bo the other I forget maybe a 308?
I walked over and was just looking at the set-ups,High high dollar stuff.
After talking to them a bit,They owned up to being fedzs...lol
I told them to just leave the brass so I could get some of my tax money back..They laughed and gave me the nice shiny brass.
Top dollar stuff for sure !

Talking about Walmart turning over records because they’re gonna stop selling guns at 500 stores.
What’s interesting starts at the 3:40 mark. But it’s prolly just the same old myth...
