It's time again for the "World Famous" (well almost) former Military Bolt Action Rifle "Salami" Match at the St Bernard Pistol and Rifle Range in Poydras LA. Other rifles are welcome but the food prizes will be awarded to shooters using former military bolt action rifles. So get out that Springfield, Enfield, Mauser, Arisaka, Mosin Nagant, Schmidt Rubin or other former military bolt action rifle you haven't shot in years and give it some exercise. The Match will be on Sunday January 10th with shooting beginning @ 0900. Get there early to register, set up and put out targets. Brand new, first class target frames have been constructed. The range is located just behind Richards RV Park located at 350 Bayou Road in Poydras/St. Bernard. Take the road alongside the Trailer Park all the way back and over the RR tracks (10mph max please!).

50 shot National Match Course of fire with sighters at 200yd or 100yd (your choice) shot concurrently on appropriate reduced targets.

I wouldn’t mind simply attending and observing that shoot. Bet there’ll be a bunch of cool old guns and shooters out there. Thanks for the heads up.

You would be welcome to shoot your M1 Garand but only shooters shooting ex military bolt action rifles are eligible for food prizes.
Course of fire is the (modified) National Match Course. 50 shots plus sighters.
10 shots slow fire single load standing offhand in ten minutes
10 shots rapid fire with one mandatory reload in 70 seconds sitting or kneeling
10 shots rapid fire with one mandatory reload in 80 seconds prone
20 shots slow fire single load in 20 minutes prone
A ten minute sight in period will precede the match.
A chamber flag (empty chamber indicator) is mandatory except when in preparation period or actual firing.
