    Crazy Violence in NOLA.

    January 4 at 6:03 PM

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - “Everybody called 911 and told them a person was in the car. It looked like she passed out,” says a neighbor.

But, the woman behind the wheel of the car was actually shot and she died on the scene. Police say someone shot her as she drove in the 7200 block of Morrison Road.

“We saw the bullet holes in the car. One of the neighbors told me he could see about three bullet holes in the car on the driver’s side,” says a neighbor.

A neighbor, who doesn’t want to be identified, told FOX 8, surveillance video showed two people running from the scene, just after the shooting.

Police released pictures, and say they want to talk to those individuals about what happened. Just after being shot, the victim continued down Morrison, hitting parked cars.

    Debris still litters the street.

“She was able to straighten up and proceed on Morrison. One of the neighbors said he thought he could see her holding a blanket or something to her side. We figured she was trying to stop the bleeding, but she probably passed out,” said the neighbor.

As police investigated the homicide, another call came in. Police say someone carjacked a 76-year-old woman on Martin Drive.

“They don’t care. They don’t care if police are right there. They will do it in front of police,” says a neighbor.

Only about two blocks from the homicide scene, police say someone approached the woman, pulled out a gun and demanded her keys. She handed them over the carjacker took off in the woman’s vehicle.

“We have to live in fear and people work hard for the things that they earn and to be carjacked is really sad. I just think we need more police officers in New Orleans East,” says a neighbor.

Just a few hours after the shooting and carjacking in the Spring Lake Neighborhood, violence unfolded a few miles away in an IHOP parking lot off of the I-10 Service Road.

Surveillance video shows a man breaking into a car and rummaging through it.

Police say the victim, an IHOP employee, walked outside and the gunman shot her.

    She’s in stable condition.

People who live and work in the New Orleans East are tired of the violence that they say seems to surround them every day.

“I mean, even when you’re getting in your car, you hear gunshots. You have to look around and see if you’re safe, but you’re not safe at all,” says a neighbor.

Police need your help to solve these crimes. If you know anything that will help, call CRIMESTOPPERS.

This was all in NO east. 7th district runs from Dowman Rd (the highrise to the seabrook bridge for those not familiar) to Slidell, from Chef Hwy (hwy 90) to the lake. That's like 20 square miles. At the height of funding they had 7 officers to handle that. Now it's like 3. They can't even keep up with the paperwork, much less do something about the crime. The criminals know this, so it's become a free fire zone. Such a shame... it was such a nice place to grow up.

He said he has lost atleast 3 bbq pits off his front porch. And if his kids leave there bike out in the yard to go to the bathroom... bye bye bike. He has alot of older neighbors and he said they just sit on there porch and watch the show, theres nothing they can do about it, they tried taking pics and calling cops but they never show up. So now when he gets home they just notify him if sombody stole somthing from them today or not

Sounds like the community is gonna have to either turn it around or give it up. Parts of Baton Rouge are much the same even if people don’t want to see it.

There must be a statue somewhere they forgot to tear down that’s causing all of this.

Fortunately I’m employed unfortunately my work is right in the thick of it off of dowman rd. My wife used to say I was paranoid because I refused to leave the house without my Glock 30s as well as my Glock 17. I also keep a Mossberg 500 in my trunk, cruiser ready loaded with 00 buck. I’ve worked in this area now for about 5 years since I got out of the military and after countless incidents like this on the news she now full understands why I travel to and from work every day full prepared to defend my life. It’s really sad and it seems the criminals know the cards they are dealt right now. Within a couple months the dollar general and family dollar on dowman both closed because both locations literally had more product walking out of the store than what was being sold on top of the once or twice a week armed robberies or overnight smash and grab robberies. It’s a damn shame because this used to be such a nice area and a lot of older folks still reside around here.
