Looking for electrician to install receptacle and interlock device in N.O. area
Looking for a recommendation for an electrician in the New Orleans area to install a 30 or 50 amp box for a generator to plug into and an interlock device. After Zeta I’ve decided to go the portable generator route and would like to plug into and back feed the main if needed. Have another house near McComb with a Generac whole house generator and the plan was to go there if power was out too long in St. Bernard from a storm. Problem is kids go to school in New Orleans and they had power and they opened back up 4 days before we had power back at home so leaving wasn’t really an option. Just looking for an option to run the necessities and a few fans. Looking at 10000-13000 starting watt generators now so any recommendations on a reliable one of those would be helpful too. Considering Westinghouse, Wen, Champion and Duromax. Don’t want to go the Generac route and put out a ton of money because like I said already have one north of here and experience with that one is that they are junk and very problematic. I also know someone who has one in Kenner and it wouldn’t kick on after Zeta. Definitely not worth the money.

My main feed/main breaker are on the outside of the house so I added a sub-panel with a 40A breaker and a 4' suicide cord. I flip off the Main and turn off the AC from the sub panel inside, and my 6500 Generac will run everything else (lights, TV, gas range, microwave, well, etc.).
