Popularity numbers of 9mm pistols by handguns produced shows increase in numbers since 2015.

Year - 9mm
2019 - 57%
2018 - 54%
2017 - 48%
2016 - 48%
2015 - 43%
2014 - 35%
2013 - 38%
2012 - 35%

10mm is the new 9mm. Till 10mm is as scarce as 9mm.

I have no idea. When the shelves were bare of just about all pistol calibers 10mm was still plentiful. I’m sure that has changed and nothing is plentiful anymore.

They were plentiful because they are very slow sellers.

About 4 years ago, my Dept went from the S&W M&P .45 to the Glock 9 (17, 19, & 34). 9mm ammo has developed by leaps and bounds over the last 20 years to give the 9mm shooter a much more efficient cartridge for personal carry, home defense, and Law Enforcement Duty rounds. Efficiency on the range has also improved. Considering the higher round count, and effective accuracy "on target", the 9mm has proven to be a great move so far. Our Deputies seem to enjoy shooting it a lot more also.
