I know its not my ad, but the 511 & 551 use the N-cell batteries, while the 512 & 552 use AA's. the 55x models are NV compatible. The N-cell batteries are available at Wal-mart, walgreens (and other corner pharmacies) and radio shack. If you are limited on rail space the shorter 511/551 are nice.
