    1. It's ALWAYS about the money
    2. It's about who you know

No matter how you feel about the oil disaster you have to feel sorry for the innocent hard working people who are adversely affected by it. BP's Vessel of Opportunity program was supposed to help fishermen, charter boat owners keep their heads above water. Instead, it appears the contracts are going to the well connected pleasure boat owners.

I don't how hiring luxury boats is saving BP money, so I don't understand the motive. They're just going to bring a class action lawsuit on themselves.

Are the luxury boat owners actually cleaning up oil? I can't see an already rich person taking their 30 ft cigarette boat out to go clean up oil.

It's going to be just like FEMA after Hurricane Katrina . Tons of money being " stolen " with little to no accountability . My son has been down to Cocodrie , and he said the clean up workers are just sitting around drinking coffee and collecting $300 a day .

    "It's always about the money."

Many "who you know" scenarios revolve around mutually beneficial situations with profit at their center. And money always trumps friendship, as per the statement, "it's just business, nothing personal".

Not sure exactly what applies in this case, but as a general rule of thumb, "cash is king".

It is just like Katrina, I went to the Ms coast last weekend via US 90, and right around the state line is a fema tent city at one of the boat launches; around 30 - 40 guys standing around, playing cards, doing nothing but collecting a check
