Does anyone who has done a BFPU (battlefield pickup) job on their rifle have any tips on how to do it right? From what I've read Scotchbrite pads are the best to do it. I've also read of steel wool and fine grit sandpaper. Some say dip the pad in oil. The description from rayman1 on this thread is probably the best I've seen.

AK_shooter did a nice job on his using steel wool.

The Arfcom thread you linked has lots of detailed instructions on how to do it. :eh:

Yes, that's why I posted it. I'm looking for anyone on this forum that has specific tips based on their own experiences. Ak_shooter has been the only one I've seen on here that has posted their own BFPU job. I gave it a shot on a demilled parts kit last night. It went pretty well using oil, a Scotchbrite pad, 400 grit sandpaper and a Dremel with a wire brush attachment. I'll hit it again once everything is put together. I don't want to do the receiver until the rivets are in.
