I sharpen mine in between, then on occasion bring it to someone to do a REALLY good job. The spyderco edge can be a little tricky to get the angle right.

Just go ahead and get a DMT (diamond machining technologies) whetstone watch the few videos on their website and sharpen your own knives. With those whetstones it only takes a few passes and it is just as sharp as the day you got it, sometimes even sharper.

in Branson, Mo...the Bass Pro Shop would sharpen knives for free, I'm not sure if the one in Denham offers the same courtesy.

whetstones work really well, I use my Global 1000(medium) grit stone to sharpen all of my knives, even my pocket knives.

My CRKT M16 needs a sharpening and I don't have the supplies or the skills. I'd be willing to pay a nominal fee for someone to give it a good edge.

THERES A GUY IN LAFAYETTE ON JEFFERSON ST.aT THE UNDERPASS ON THE RIGHT.HE SHARPENS ALL BLADES AND TOOLS....Been doing it for ages and he lives down the road from me.....He is the man for sharpening anything at all,

    Grizzly T10010ANV - 10" Wet Grinder Kit -
    With the jig from Tormek.
It will put an edge on any blade.
It can change bevel, make a notebook with settings and you can repeat to eack blade.
No scratches on high end custom blade.

    I'm a custom knife maker
I forge high carbon and some semi-stainless.
I keep my blade at 60-63Hrc.
D2 is a metal i have not tried forging but it is my favorite steel of knives i have bought.

80crv2 is fast becoming a steel i like, not sure
    Of its stainless Properties.
I do take care of my knives, i have quite a few customs i have bought and of my own making.

I was just watching videos on these last night. Pretty impressive. I was also interested in how you can reshape the wheel and make it different grit
