a freinds mom found an rifle in her closet (dads) in the back when they were moving it turns out to be an m14 no one new about it till now dad past 8-9 yrs. ago mom is in here late 70s early 80s no one nos what to do how to take possesion etc. it is in great shape is it even legal all she said about it was he had it all long time when ask what that meant she said since the early to late 60s any help would be great

First find out what it is. If its a F/A you need to find the papers on it. If its registered you got yourself a nice chunk of change there

CAI stamped????????????????? if so most likely its an M1A1 as mentioned b4, I have one of the early models imported by Century and she works pretty good.

Call (304) 616-4500 give them the serial number. If they have a record of it great. If it was never put in and is full auto that's a big problem. You would need to demill or turn it in.

It's different for different guns. Not sure on the m14 but guns like ak's that just have the extra hole for the auto sear it a mg with out the parts

who is 304) 616-4500 law info full auto info etc. if there is a record then what i thought before 68 any one could own full autos with no papers (tax stamp )etc also untill recently you didnt have transfer rifles on paper i.e. i could had
nd my brother my ar he give the money and so on dont know anything about class3 dont wont to get any one in trouble

Nope you need a tax stamp on all full auto's even after 68, 86, 1934. If it was never registered it's to late now and also an illegal barn find

I wonder how many other illegal barn finds are sealed in PVC and buried in the yard or thrown in a well? It's a damn shame something that sweet can't be registered.

Have you tried to fire it, how do you know its not a "legal" semi version and not stamped one?

yea that is a bunch of bull.. they should be able to run the serial numbers if everthing checks out ok you should be able to purchase tax stamp and be able to have weapon..
