I Think some a**hole at Colt thought it would be funny to glue or weld or some sh*t my barrel nut into place.

I have been wrenching the crap out of the thing for 30 mins. and my bicep hurts:wtc:

so how the hell do I get this thing OFF?

I tried heating it up with a torch and lightly tapping it with a small hammer, and guess what....I did NOT come off. big surprise:mad:

anyone else ever had this problem? what do i do? And dont say something smart ass like did I turn it the right way. unless it is reverse thread then I was turning it the right way.

thanks in advace for any help.

I thought you didnt have to take it off????????????????

Either way a cheta pipe with the wrench inside of it should be more than enough, its only suppose to be torqued up to about 40# anyways.

Do you have it in a vise with some blocks??????

Yes I put it in blcoks and it is in my vise right now. And i have to take it off to get the delta ring, spring and clip off.

I dont have a cheta bar or pipe or anyother kind of leverage. I guess I have to go get one. but there is no trick to it huh? just use the wrench to get off the nut.......?

I try to find some kind of leverage bar.

    thanks guate. :)

Im not sure if that poor thing will fire once you finish with it.

Just remember to point it down range you might want to secure it, and tie a string to the trigger with a rope about 10 feet long "JUST IN CASE"

    hahahahahahahhaahahahahaahahahaaaha

Try 30 minutes in an oven at 425. Make sure you strip it as far as you can and it will be bone dry.

This is one of those times you should REALLY be using an actual upper vice block. It will transfer more of the force where it needs to be, and you're really risking screwing up your upper if you're torquing it that hard without it being properly supported.

What type of AR tool are you using?

I just went through this Sunday. Did everything and have a similar wrench, finally got it warm and secured in a set of action blocks and hit the end of the wrench with a 3# hammer.
    Worked!

Good luck, Colt's can be a pain sometimes.

Dude, put it in the freezer for an hour. Yes, the freezer.

Also, don't break my freakin' wrench by hitting it with a hammer! If you cannot get it, come by the house tommorow afternoon and I'll remove it for you.

Maybe someone close by has one you can borrow? Also a tool like the DPMS might work better, as it's designed to be used with a cheater bar.
