I want to do a sbs either with a 870 or 1100. Besides the legal aspect is there anything I should know before planning this process? Thinking of going 14" on the barrel.

If I do the 870 I would also be putting the sage international collapsing stock on there.

I'd want to just cut down my current barrel on either gun. No use buying another shogun just for SBS.

Was thinking 870 would probably be best anyway. Guess I'll start doing some paperwork.

    Do the 1100. DO THE 1100!!! :D:D:D SBS'd 870's are a dime a dozen.

I've had dreams of hacking the barrel off mine, but can't force myself to ruin a gun in such good condition. Been looking for a beat up one that isn't $300+ in the classifieds for quite a while to no avail.

Besides, you can do some Chuck Norris reenactments with the 1100

I picked up an 1100 at a pawn shop this weekend for 150$ it functions just fine as I shot a few hundred shells through it. I planned to chop and park it if I go the 1100 route

Personally, I also like the barrel flush with the mag cap on an 870. If you're gonna pay the tax, whack it off as short as you can. Either that, or put a Wilson +1 extension on, which adds about 1.5" and go with about 12.5" My Tromix is 8" :)

Don't forget, the 1100 is a gas gun, and you will need enough barrel past the gas port to get enough dwell for operating.
