Is there anyone here that works for EBRSO? I am going thru the application process for the reserve and wondering if anyone has any tips. Also wanted to see what the stipulations are in Baton Rouge as far as a duty weapon. What you can and cannot carry! All info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Be honest and relax for all the testing and you'll be fine. Get through the process before you start worrying about guns, that is always the first question everyone asks, I was there myself at one time. I started reserve in 05, full time since 07.

Ok fantastic. I do have one ? For you. Does reserve purchase all their own equipment? Belts, etc? I appreciate the advice. I'm gonna do reserve for now but want to go full time in the future

far as I know, if you carry a personal gun you have to buy an approved holster and mag pouch, everything else for your basic kit is issued. Uniforms, vest, etc are issued except boots. That is how it was when I was in it and the same as it is for us regulars. If you get into this job buying gear is a hobby, cause everybody wants cooler stuff. The only thing I'd say is required for your basic gear that isn't issued is a second set of cuffs and a case for them, they only issue 1 pair. Having 2 on your person is a must.

far as I know personal guns allowed are Glock 17, 19, 21, 22, and 23. An approved duty holster will run about $120 for a safariland and a mag pouch 20-30, basketweave leather. Don't go out shopping til you get the official word that your in and what is approved, it changes weekly it seems lol.

    And I have an 01 Bullitt :-D
