I don't believe I'm 'vintage' but I do love mine. You just have to shoot one to find out. I'm not a collector by any means but this rifle is definitely fun to shoot. It's like a 'boom stick' at the range. The fireball makes it worth while when you see someone shooting it. And, as everyone else have mentioned, the ammo is dirt cheap.

You should have checked with AIM Surplus... They usually have 91/30s for $80 and a can of ammo is only about $80-$90.

    I have a 1935 91/30 hex receiver, a 1942 91/30 round receiver and a 1942 M44.

It'll take out a clay pigeon at 300 yards. Not bad for an $80 rifle. I have about 23 of them, and I've put many thousands of rounds through them. One of them goes with me every time I go to the range. I shoot the AK. I shoot the K98. I shoot the Smelly. Then I settle in with the 91/30 for a few hundred rounds. What a great way to pass a day. Buy one, and stock up on about 10,000 rounds of ammo. It's guaranteed good times for the rest of your life.
