i believe they actually thread the existing barrel and then put on an extension. but i could be wrong. i think it works sort of like a Walther P22 adapter.

rumor is that if you have a p30 you can buy the longer p30l barel for it and have it threaded to use with a can.

I hate to bring up a thread this old but can anyone verify this? I want a p30 .40 but was going to go with the usp compact tactical for the threaded barrel.

hkparts.net sells P30L barrels threaded for use in the 9mm P30's. I haven't heard of it being done in the 40, but see no reason it couldn't be.

The barrel is the same design and neither use an o-ring so basically you are just putting in an extended barrel.
