I googled M14 with no markings, first and most hits says Norinco. Do you know if he made it with such a receiver? Still not a bad price....

The gun smith that barreled the receiver told us he milled the receiver... I didn't know norinco made anything other than AK's.

Both Norinco and Polytech made excellent M14 receivers, still for sale new in Canada.
Both either marked on the heel, early models or later on the left rear of the receiver.
Where is the serial number located?

Tomjb and I have a slightly different view of the Norinco M1A. Norinco offered reverse engineered (knocked off) M14 type rifles in the US commercial market in the 1980s when the M1A was a hot rifle. The specs were sometimes close to the US rifles and many original parts were fitted to the rifle. The barrels were sometimes replaced and many went unsold.

If the receiver is not marked, then the possibility of being Chinese with a “cleaned” and refinished receiver is 99%. The possibility of a local gunsmith milling a M1A receiver is less than 0.00%.

Your asking price is your decision, I am only replying to the Norinco manufacture of M1As.
Also, your rifle is an M1A – the semi-auto civilian version of the M14.
